(via ResourceShelf) - Japanese library to eschew plastic for biometrics
No more library cards for a new library opening in Japan next October. Instead, library users will be borrowing library materials via a biometric vein reader. Apparently biometric vein scanning is more secure than even fingerprint, voice, facial or iris recognition systems. Currently, such systems are being used at ATMs in Japan. If we were to implement it, we’ll cut out the problems of cases of users having their lost NRICs/library cards from being misused.
