Overhead On The Radio
Was in the cab yesterday on the way home when I heard an interesting topic over the radio, Love 97.2FM. The deejay, Violet, was asking listeners to call in to tell her about the bad experiences they have while in the library and what they might have done that was considered bad etiquette. However, all those who called (a total of 3 listeners) only mentioned the bad things other people have done in the library.
One of the callers talked about people not being considerate and talking loudly on their mobile phones even though they are not allowed to use the phones in the library. He also mentioned the selfish behavior of users who cut the pages from cookery books. He has encountered such vandalism in quite a number of cookery books. Another caller talked about the loud ringing of mobile phones in the library even though there are many signs around the library to put phones to the silent mode. The last caller was disgusted with the many couples who behave intimately in the library. The deejay then interjected tongue-in-cheek that our public gardens might have too much mosquitoes and humid whereas the library has free of mosquitoes and air-conditioning.
At the end of call-in, the deejay reminded listeners to pay their overdue fines as soon as possible. And, if they still have overdue library books at home, to drop them off in the libraries so that other users can make use of the materials. I’m sure there are some of you who might still have books with you that are borrowed from the library, but not returned. DO return them as soon as you can.
Don’t be selfish! Share the knowledge!!
