• Video games — or books?
    An opinion piece about some moral issues facing parents when they pick up summer reading lists for their children from American Library Association or their local bookstores. The author, Rebecca Hagelin, talks about the lack of classics in the reading lists instead the reading lists contain books such as “Totally Joe” by James Howe where the main character in the novel discovers that he’s gay as well as the popular “Gossip Girls” series.   • Iowa Bike Library gets new bench
    There are no books or audio visual items for loan in this library, only bikes. The bikes can be checked out for six months with a small deposit of between US$35 and US$45. In addition to the loaning of bikes, the bike library also provides tools for repairing and fixing bikes that users can use within the library.

  • Ann Arbor District Library website
    I have previously highlighted the Ann Arbor District Library website here and here. The library website has recently being selected by the American Library Association as the best library website in the nation for libraries with budgets of US$6,000,000.00+. A library website that we should strive to emulate.
