Can Google be Out-Googled?
What advantage does libraries have over Google? Metadata! We have tons of metadata imbedded into our catalogues. But it seems like Google is also slowly getting into including metadata to the websites that the search engine crawler has gone to. To me, Technorati is also acting as a major depository of metadata as millions of bloggers tag their posts and the number of bloggers are doubling every 200 days. This would mean lots of websites and blog post would have metadata on them.

A good write-up for authors who want their works published, but do not have the resources to do so. Blogging and putting up a website have become really easy. I know of a few books that were initially published via blogs or websites and then converted into physical books, for example, Naked Conversations (for availability in the library, check here). But the question would be how would libraries catalogue and store these books that have been published online? And how to we keep track of the many new online books being published?
