  • Publisher Weekly’s Best Books of the Year
    A listing of what Publisher Weekly considers the 100 outstanding books published in the past year. And they have listing of books for both fiction and non-fiction as well as for adults and children. Unfortunately, I’ve not read any of the books listed though I’m tempted to go get Scott McCloud’s Making Comics: Storytelling Secrets of Comics, Manga and Graphic Novels and Seth Godin’s Small Is the New Big: and 183 Other Riffs, Rants, and Remarkable Business Ideas.
  • Library science examines future tech
    Back on the Web 2.0 bandwagon, Stephen Abram, vice president of innovation for SirisDynix - a company that provides technological solutions for libraries - feels that “Library 2.0 is using Web 2.0 tech innovations to create a library user experience”. We are slowly moving towards Library 2.0 in due time though there are still some mindsets that need to be changed before things can happen.

  • The Information Literacy Facade
    A post on the importance of information literacy and the need for librarians to communicate what it is all about. I guess the recent sessions conducted by my colleagues to school teachers about what our public libraries can offer in terms of user education sessions is a good start. I heard that we managed to solicit quite a lot of positive feedbacks and requests for more information from the teachers.
