- Microsoft opens digital library
Microsoft seems to be catching up with Google’s Book Search by setting up a similar offering called MSN Book Search that would be launched early next year. It’ll be tied closely with MSN Search. It include books from “the British Library, the University of California and the University of Toronto. Other institutions including the New York Public Library and Cornell University expected to come on board in the near future.” Guess we’ll have more choices in searching for books. BTW, out-of-copyright books are available on both book search engines to download as PDF files. - Change on the Cheap: Big Payoffs with Modest Investments

Librarians witness, search for, find, organize and catalog knowledge.Online research and the power of the web, have made accessing information only fingertips away from all of us, but the taxonomies and standards used for search will impact how people learn online and off for years to come.

However, one of the most valuable of the Deep Web is actually the proprietary online databases that are only accessible through subscriptions.
