01 March was World Book Day. And in conjunction with it, a poll was conducted to determine which book was most precious.
The result … Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice was voted as most precious.
JRR Tolkein’s Lord of the Rings came in second with Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte in third. What was interesting is that the series of Harry Potter books came in at number four.
And the best-selling book of all time, The Bible, came in sixth, thanks largely to the votes of those over 60 years old. However, it should be noted that it did rank amongst the top 10 in every age group over 25.
The best-selling book of recent times, The Da Vinci Code, only managed to 42nd place.
