Previously, I wrote about the increased emphasis on the production of audiobooks by book publishers.

And recently, Amazon.com has just announced that they are acquiring Brilliance Audio, the largest independent publisher of audiobooks in the US.

From what I can gather from the press release, the acquisition will allow Amazon.com to work closely with book publishers to increase the number of books that are also available as audiobooks via their subsidiary CustomFlix. CustomFlix complements the acquisition as it provides authors and publishers easy access to introduce audiobooks on an inventory-free basis.

Guess the good news for the rest of us is that there will be more audiobooks flooding our bookstores and on Amazon.com. And hopefully, this will allow our public libraries to have a greater variety of audiobooks that is available for loan.
