The Guardian First Book Award Shortlist

The Guardian just announced their “First Book Award” shortlist for 2007. And the nominees are as follows:
- A Golden Age by Tahmima Anam
- Imperial Life in the Emerald City by Rajiv Chandrasekaran (Call No.: English 956.704431 CHA)
- God’s Architect by Rosemary Hill (Call No.: English 720.92 HIL)
- Children of the Revolution by Dinaw Mengestu
- What Was Lost by Catherine O’Flynn (Call No.: English OFL)

The Guardian First Book Award was created in 1999 to reward the finest new literary talent for an author’s first book and is open to books of all genres. The books are judged by a celebrity panel as well as members of the public made up of reading groups run by the Waterstone’s stores (a bookstore chain in the UK).

The winner of the award will be rewarded with £10,000.
