She has since collated all the submissions and is slowly releasing the survey results.

- Young reader’s medal effort - AdelaideNow
A eight-year-old boy in Adelaide has read 1000 books since February 2007 as part of South Australia’s Premier’s Reading Challenge. It is reported that he averages about 4 books a day.

- Hottest Facebook Group for Librarians
A very useful list of groups that are relevant to librarians. Am in some of the groups since I joined Facebook not too long ago. If you’re on Facebook, add me as a friend.
(via iLibrarian)

Now, BookJetty has expanded to more than 300 other libraries around the world. There is also the social networking part where you can share the books you have read with others. And also post reviews. Just waiting for a Facebook app.

It was reported on Wednesday’s New York Times that newspapers in the States are slowly eliminating book reviews sections. You can also read about what the book review industry has to say.

Well, MPOW also experience some cutback on the number of book reviews that we need to submit to the national newspapers. I guess we will need to re-look at where else we can put our book reviews. Possibly on blogs as well as other new media avenues.

Saw this meme on CW’s blog earlier this week.

Basically, the meme is for library bloggers to list 5 non-library-related blogs that they like and read. Hmmm … I’ve got a ton of blogs in my RSS reader. So, here’s five of my current favorites (and they change according to moods).

Read/WriteWeb: A blog about the Tech world with analysis, previews and reviews.

ProBlogger: If you plan on becoming a professional blogger, then this is one of the essential blogs you need to read. Am reading it to learn how to draw more traffic to my blogs.

Gizmodo: I’m a gadget freak. So, Gizmodo is good for me to find out the latest news and rumors on gadgets.

The Unofficial Apple Weblog: Besides being a gadget freak, I’m also a Apple enthusiast. And TUAW provides the latest news about all things Mac: hardware, software and rumors.

Parent Hacks: A good place for any parent to pick up parenting tips.

So, for all the librarians who are blogging, what is your five favorite non-library-related blogs? Remember to tag your post with fiveblogs.

Technorati Tags: blogging, fiveblogs, meme
